Surroundings

Alba is a beautiful Medieval town in the heart of the Langhe region which is one of Italy’s most renowned wine-producing areas.  It has  strong gastronomic traditions and is also known for its sweetmeats and attracts an up-market level of tourism, in particular during the white truffle season.

There are many fascinating towns within a few kilometres from the Locanda including Barolo, Barbaresco, Castiglione Falletto, La Morra, Neive, Serralunga, Manforte and Grinzane Cavour which, with their castles and traditions, are well worth visiting. 

Golf

Just 20 kilometres from the Locanda del Pilone,  the “Vigne del Barolo” golf club is amongst the  Barolo vineyards: an extraordinary setting and one which is known the world over.

The 18-hole course, designed by Emanuele Canonica (9 holes are ready) in collaboration with the Josè Maria Olazàbal Golf Team will take our breath away for the beauty of the countryside and the spectacular course which winds its way through hills and vineyards.  And in the background there is the majestic Monviso which completes the intimate pleasure golfers can enjoy in our club.

The first 9 holes which have been planned in a totally natural area of some 65 hectares, give you the feeling of playing on a major championship course where both the pro and the amateur will find themselves with an intriguing range of strategic options and ways to enjoy the game.

Culture

The Castles 

The castles in the Langhe region are one of the elements that characterize this unique landscape.  They are on the many hills on which the towns of the lower  Piedmont region are located and have, down the centuries, contributed to the image ad identity of each of these towns  and of the region in general. 

The Barolo Wine Museum 

And Italy’s most innovative wine museum could not but be found here, among the rolling hills with their well-manicured vineyards where, for over two hundred years, one of the world’s most famous wines has been produced.  In this area the countryside has fun a perfect balance with nature and with the intelligence of the labours of man.

Wines & Cousine

A guided tour of the wine cellars of the Boroli family is a fascinating way to discover he amazing world of wines.  A special wine tasting with an expert completes the experience.  The    “La Brunella” wine cellar is in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo region,  in a  panoramic hillside position in the centre of the most famous Barolo-producing vineyards.
